Using Search Engines
by noel on June 21, 2006

InternetWeek -
Andrew Hitchcock, a 20-year-old student at the University of Washington, got the ball rolling by posting Google Analytics statistics on visitors to his Web site. Of the users originating from Microsoft's domain who reached Hitchcock's site via a search engine, 80 percent came through Google. Only 20 percent used a Microsoft search engine (either MSN's or the Live.com's).
So, they don't patronize their own. Where's product loyalty? Does this mean 80% of microsoft does not believe that msn.com or live.com can provide the relevant results they need?
It seems that's the case. I don't think Microsoft is ready to take on Google in the search engine arena. If they can't increase their marketshare of search engine usage in their own company, how can they expect to gain marketshare globally?
