Most of the time, spyware is installed without asking permission from the user. When the distributors install the software through deception and tricks and the customer eventually get wind of such, the aftermath is mistrust.
To safeguard yourself against the destructive spyware, you must be cautious all the time. When installing any software, be sure that you are knowledgeable of what you are downloading. You may not know it but lots of shareware and freeware have spyware in them. Check on the user agreement. Sometimes it's there.
Kazaa, for one, is claiming that it is free from spyware. Nonetheless, once you download it, you'll know that the statement is fallacious.
You will know if you have been a victim of spyware when you get pop-up messages even when you are not using the Internet. Another indication is when your homepage changes without you doing the same. Also, when your computer moves slowly or reboots on its own. Final indication is when virus appears.
Don't fret if you find out that you are invaded by spyware. All you need are some utilities as well as some changes in your computer. If you are not skillful on the matter, better delegate the task. The process may include deletion of some files or installation of anti-spyware software. 'Hijack This' is a software that is good at getting rid of spyware.
