eBay Inc. is an online auction and shopping site where people and companies transact business regarding buying and selling worldwide. Said company also owns Skype, PayPal and other businesses. The website was founded on September 3, 1995 in San Jose, California. Since then, it has established a good name in connection with consummating business transactions.
However, there are scrupulous individuals using the site to defraud purchasers online. Some of them secretly bid up the price of auctioned items to amplify earnings. Earlier, an investigation about the matter was conducted by Sunday Times. According to said investigation, users are employing "shill bidding" to boost their earnings at another person's expense. And this practice is pervasive across the website.
The undercover reporter in said investigation taped the conversation between him and the biggest eBay sellers in the United Kingdom. The seller admitted that he was prepared to use business associates to bid on his goods for him.

There are many eBay auctions scams on the net with the practice of "shill bidding" being the one which recently hit the news. In actuality, this is an old eBay scam. What people don't know is that many blind auctions on eBay are also fixed.
