Google is going green with solar technology

Google, the search engine giant announced its plan during a solar energy conference in Silicon Valley that they would be converting its San Francisco Headquarters to run partly on solar energy.

They'll be installing 9,200 solar panels in Googleplex and is expected to produce 1.6MW of electricity. Wow. With the huge power requirement of Google's server farms, they really need megawatts of power.

Note however that with those solar panels, Google hopes is could produce about 30% of their requirements. Geez! That's a huge power requirement. I wouldn't be surprised if Google will also put up wind generator farms in the future.
