Google Pushes the World Toward Cloud Computing with Its New Operating System
Filed in archive google by Greg Cruey on July 10, 2009
Michael Gray is looking forward to a Google operating system (despite his distrust of Google) because he's a fan of cloud computing.

Everyone has covered the announcement of Google's coming operating system: Google Insider, BusinessWeek, Lifehacker, CNN - I could go on...

The unofficial Google Operating System blog sums up the connection between the Chrome browser and the Chrome operating system:
Google Chrome has always been a little more than a browser: it's optimized for running web applications, each tab runs as a separate process, the interface is minimalistic and there's even a task manager.
There have been efforts in the past to create an open source linux operating system. Now the effort has the backing of an industry giant. And if they're successful, Google will surely begin more agressively developing premium paid versions of it's free cloud-based apps.
