Fred Heath, director of libraries at University of Texas said:
"Intellectual discovery is at the heart of the scholarly research process. The best collections of information are only as useful as the quality of the tools available for discovering and accessing that information."
The inception of the Google Book Search project could be reckoned in 2004. Its vision is to scan every literary work into digital format and making them available online. So far, Google has established partnerships with prominent libraries such as the New York Public Library and university libraries like Harvard, Oxford, Complutense of Madrid and the University of California to add their repertoires to its virtual book shelves.
