Personally, the first time I heard about the name "guge" was about a few weeks ago. My first impression about this is that it sounds like a 2 year old struggling to pronounce the word "google" and ending up with "guge".
Guge in chinese means "harvesting song"
Some of the reasons given by people of noguge.com is that "guge" sounds weird and unsophisticated. They liked google but don't like "guge".
Other suggestions were Goule (enough), Gugu (auntie), Gugou (ancient dog), and Gege (elder brother).
