Hewlett-Packard has won a highly lucrative and bitterly contested battle against Kodak as the printer supplier for photo kiosks in thousands of Wal-Mart stores, giving HP a dynamic and long-lasting revenue stream for its ink, toner, and paper. Kodak's loss inspired its CMO to tweet a message to HP saying, "Shame on your tactics."

Do you care?

Crunchgear had an interesting piece on the kiosk war. They compared the HP C6380 to the Kodak ESP 7 (at HP's request). Their conclusion: the Devil is in the details. Which printer costs less? How does the quality compare? It all depends on what you measure and (naturally) how you measure it. And a lot of it goes back to personal preferences.

The bottom line is that both the Kodak and the HP machines are good printers. (You can save a little money on the HP printer if you have HP coupons to use.) The Crunchgear article is very detailed.
