Search Engine Optimization Search Engine Optimization Search Engine Optimization

Ok, so what am I doing with the repititive search engine optimization title above? Well, in the grand old world of search engine optimization, it is called keyword stuffing. So, where do we stand on that sensitive topic today? What are the ground rules? What is allowed and what is not allowed? Read this interesting article on keyword repitition (lets not call it stuffing) and its relation to search engine optimization in this excellent article by Shari Thurow, who always writes the greatest articles.

With regards to keyword “stuffing”. You only have to mention it once in a link, not twice. Any consequetive mention is redundant. And you only have to have ONE link on the website with the keyword. All other links with the same keywords to the same page are also considered redundant by search engines so they don’t help.

Agree with Tim. Our research shows that in the short run you might be able to deceive a spider but not for too long. All an engineer at Google or Yahoo needs to do is to change one line of code and your weeks of efforts is wasted. So as the search engine firms say, it is best to design a website for your readers, not for spiders. If your readers like it, the search engines will like it too, and you will win. We have never hired a search engine optimization firm and hardly ever worry about search engines, but our readers love us and we get as much traffic as we expect.

Agreed in the most part. Except that I think that anyone who is so sure of how a search engine works is deceiving her/himself.

Hey! How do you define search engine spam. I think this is subjective.

The comments by Tim and Management Consultant might well be true. But, then again they may not. What intrigues me is the large number of people who seem to “know” how search engines think!
