Search Engine Retention Strategy
Once you land on the top 10 search engine results page, what do you do? Is there a retention strategy for Search Engine Optimization?

In my case, if I'm on #1 or #2 or even #3, I would probably spend less time on it and work on the other keywords. BUT, it is important to check often if your rank is sliding down. If it does, then its time to put in some more backlinks. If it isn't then I can just add a few links each month or none at all depending on the competitiveness of the keywords.

If my site is at #4 down, I'd still work on the backlinks. In most cases, your competitors are also working on their backlinks. It is also best to check out your competitor's number of backlinks. If its increasing, then it is not the time to stop your efforts.

Apart from your ranking, I would also check if the site is making me money. If the incoming traffic is not converting to sales, then it might be a better idea to focus on how to convert those traffic into buyers instead of getting a higher rank in the SERPs.
