To those who are new to the industry, there are several things that you need to avoid and things that you have to practice. Here are some of the do's and don'ts to help you get started:
Do help yourself. Some SEO firms won't help you much. More often than not, their promises turn out to be unfeasible. Thus, do yourself a favor because you can do it without their help.
Don't practice repetitive submissions. There are plenty of search engines, free-for-all (FFA) pages, classified ads sites and directories to submit to. Submit your website to these sites but never re-submit for it will be a futile effort. As a fact, repetitive submissions never improve your search engine rankings.
Don't use strategies to deceive search engines. Nowadays, they are already modified and made smarter than you imagine them to be. Doorway pages, keyword stuffing and same color text used as the background are archaic.
Do write for your website. Writing is significant to SEO. Start writing about your business and submit them to article directories with backlinks.
Do get SEO tools such as PageRank, HTML and search engines. They are important to analyze link saturation, link popularity, keyword and page rank evaluation, and more.
