SEO Myths
Search engine optimization is popularly viewed as something like a cross between science and alchemy. If you do the right things, you get almost magical results. The problem is that there are so many right things to do. And some of them are secret – or at least they seem to be, in the mind of the average web surfer.
The truth is that many of the things that come into the public mind when someone says SEO, well they're myths. Some are out dated. Others are old folklore that was never really true.
Search Engine Land recently published a list of 36 such myths. I felt relief when as I read through the list. I no longer feel obligated to have an XML site map. I don't have to worry about whether I've used enough H1 tags. I can sleep better now, without worry too much about the click through rate on the SERPs…
