Higher page rank means more profitable site, that is. Basically, page rank is a mathematical formula used by search engines to each website so as to calculate its importance to online queries.

PageRank, on the other hand, is a terminology introduced by Google. The former shows the number of links that point to websites. One factor that affects PageRank is the quality of back link.
Back Link
In Internet parlance, back link means vote. If another site puts your site in its page, it means a back link or vote was cast for you.
Google PageRank Toolbar
This is the toolbar provided by Google. To get it, you have to install it in your computer. There are lots of options form said toolbar but the option commonly chosen by many is the PageRank bar. The latter shows points from 0-10. To get the page rank of the site, locate the portion where the color green stops. Said point shows the logarithmic worth of your page.

Google PR is useful when buiding backlinks. It give you an idea of the quality of the site you are going to swap link with.
