The Rise of Advergames for E-commerce

Sometimes when the going gets tough, we need an hour or two to drift into something relaxing or fun. Certainly, we need to unwind not to forget but to face the complexities of life with vigor and might. More often than not, individuals resort to advergames.

Advergames, otherwise known as advergaming, is the utilization of games (usually web based) to promote products and services in the e-commerce industry. In some cases, advergaming is even used to promote opinion, political aim and the like.

With just a short span of time, advergames has rapidly gained favor not only in the entertainment sector but in marketing as well. What makes it effective, as an advertising medium is its 'addictive factor'. If done correctly, advergames can generate high advertising returns.

Advergames, in a sense, is related to viral marketing. Players recommend the game to their friends, so the domino effect is not Shattered. Moreover, as the traffic increases the site's search engine rankings also increases.
