When you launch a new affiliate site there are some things to consider. It's best to build a nice, content-rich homepage first. Make sure all of your content is original and on-topic. Then start adding additional pages to the site targeting various "keyword phrases" relevant to the product you are promoting. There are several good tools...I like http://www.rapidkeyword.com. Make sure the Meta-tags of each page reflect the keyword phrase you are going after, and make sure that phrase is repeated on the page somewhere. Try to build 50-100 page sites targeting various phrases people are searching for. Make sure the content on EACH page is unique to that page. After you create a site you must link to it from another site already indexed with the search engines. Preferably, a high-ranking site with a lot of back-links. Build your site gradually and keep adding more pages periodically. If you are building more than one site promoting the same product you may want to host each site on different hosting, that way the search engine will treat each site independently.
