Greg Jarboe of Search Engine Watch pointed out that Yahoo has added images and videos to the top of some of the Yahoo News search results. The changes were tackled by Jarboe in his blog entry titled Images and videos appear at top of Yahoo News results. He said, "Over the past two days, images and videos have started to appear at the top of results pages for relevant queries on Yahoo News. For example, do a search for news video."

Barry Schwartz further noted, "Keep in mind, these are not images from Yahoo Images or Yahoo Video search. They are only images or videos from Yahoo News itself. Yahoo has been allowing you to filter by news images for a while. Just select the drop down menu on the right of the search box for those options." He added, "In the past, Yahoo has placed images on the right of the Yahoo News results. Now, Yahoo seems to be trying those results out at the top of the page."

Yahoo's series of experiments is expected to linger...
