Yahoo has just acquired 42.5 acres in Santa Clara for a new campus that could serve as its corporate headquarters. Yahoo bought the property from TMG Partners and is also expecting to purchase an additional 3.5 adjacent acres.
If Yahoo obtains Santa Clara's approval to fully build out the site, up to 2 million square feet of office space could be developed. The property could accommodate up to 6,000 employees in eight- to 10-story towers on the campus next to the Tasman light-rail station.
The price would be about $50 million. It seems that they're making the equivalent of googleplex. It is about time they do this as yahoo is expanding rapidly.
I believe that property prices in the adjacent areas would increase and so as rental prices. Check with your real estate agent.
