Yahoo's Beginning...

In January of 1994, alumni at Stanford University, Jerry Yang and David Filo created Yahoo, which is originally called Jerry's Guide to the World Wide Web. The said search engine was a directory that organized other web sites into a hierarchy. Then the history of Yahoo starts.
Unlike other search engines, Yahoo's popularity was achieved swiftly. Matter of fact, just a year after its creation, the founders yielded more than 1 million hits. This event has prompted the founders to incorporate the search engine in 1995.
The name Yahoo meanwhile, was already taken so the founders were forced to add the exclamation mark to get a trademark. It went public on April 12, 1996 were it earned a total of $2.6 million.
With its increasing popularity, Yahoo started acquiring companies such as GeoCities and eGroups.
Its services include Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Groups, Yahoo Maps and Driving Directions, and Yahoo Messenger. Other offers include Yahoo Image, Yahoo Local, Yahoo Shopping Search, Yahoo Video, and Yahoo! News. And other phenomenal milestones unfolded.
At present, Yahoo is keeping an eye on the future. And the company serves as one big inspiration to other online companies.
More Power Yahoo!
