Using Search Engines
by noel on December 18, 2006

ZotSpot just happens to be one of those aspiring search engines that would not mind paying its users and their referrals as long as they add value.
To get paid for searching, one has to register to get credits for using and all the referrals.
Q: How exactly does Zotspot work?
A: We've set it up so that we can see when people use it as their primary search engine. We've built some metrics into the system that we monitor. We don't monitor for a tremendous amount of activity. If someone is doing an exorbitant amount of (search) activity, that variance doesn't help them. If you just use Zotspot as your primary search engine, you will earn money. You can ramp up your earnings if you refer your friends. Users are given credit for three generations of referrals. Everyone in those three generations earns the same amount of money. Clicking on (advertising) links also doesn't impact a user's earnings.
If it will improve its algorithm on ranking the most relevant information as I'm not seeing that much of accuracy on its results pages, using ZotSpot won't hurt.
